Why Test for Asbestos?
Buildings constructed before the early 1990s very likely contain asbestos in some form. When left undisturbed, it poses little immediate risk — but any renovation, demolition, or disturbance can release dangerous fibres into the air.
Asbestos fibres can remain airborne for hours or even days. Exposure is linked to serious, irreversible conditions including mesothelioma and asbestosis.
⚠ PROVINCIAL REGULATION
Asbestos testing is required by law before any renovation or demolition of pre-1990s buildings in BC.
